How to Get Put in the System of the Veterans Administration in Virignia

By Annabeth Kaine

Serving in the military is often a thankless job. Short notice temporary duty assignments, long-term duty unaccompanied tours and frequent field exercises test even the most hardened service member. The Virginia Department of Veterans Services offer several resources for active duty, retired and injured soldiers and their family members. Access the resources you and your family earned.

Visit the Virginia Department of Veterans Services website. Think of this website as your one stop location for the forms and information you need to get into the system. The website offers valuable enrollment information and provides several forms depending on your needs.

Locate the appropriate forms. There are forms for Care Center services, Service-Disabled Veterans, Education and Pre-Cemetery applications. If your needs fall outside of this range, contact the Virginia Department of Veterans Services directly.

Download the .pdf form or forms you need and print them from your home computer. Fill out the forms accurately in black ink.

Take your completed forms to your local Veteran Services office. Bring your active duty, retired or dependent military identification and current permanent duty assignment paperwork if applicable.

Follow up with your enrollment process by calling the Virginia Department of Veteran Services office.

If you need additional assistance contact the resource center at the military base you are stationed at or closest to. The VDVS offers additional resources for emergency loans, food and housing and Virginia-specific community resources.

Wounded military members might require additional medical documentation for enrollment.
