How to Apply for Veterans Benefits in Missouri

There is a vast array of veterans benefits which a veteran or his spouse, widow or children can apply for. A veteran can apply for such benefits as disability compensation, pension or vocational rehabilitation. The Veterans Administration has streamlined the application process so benefits can be applied for online using the VONAPP website (Veterans On Line Applications), by mail or by visiting a Vet Center and speaking to a counselor. There are four Vet Centers and four VA Medical Centers in Missouri as of June, 2010.

Visit one of the four Vet Centers in Missouri if you wish to apply for veterans benefits in person. A link to the locations and contact information for all of the VA centers, clinics and medical centers in Missouri is in the Resources section of this article. The application process for veterans benefits might seem overwhelming due to different paperwork to complete so don't be afraid to visit a Vet Center and speak with a counselor if you have questions. You can also call 800-827-1000 to speak with a Veterans Service Representative about any questions you might have about veterans benefits.

Log onto the VONAPP website and begin the Veterans Benefits application process if you prefer to file your claim online. Enable cookies, Javascript and allow pop-up pages while using the VONAPP website.

Change your computer and Internet browser settings according to the VONAPP FAQ guidelines if you have any trouble with VONAPP working properly during the application process. A link to the browser-setting guidelines are available in the Resources section of this article.

Confirm receipt and initial processing of your benefits claim two to three weeks after mailing your application or submitting it via VONAPP. The appropriate contact information is:
