Remember that you have 1 year to file an appeal for your Veterans Disability Compensation Claim. The Veterans Administration is required to help you with your appeal process in all ways. Whether it's to answer questions or help fill out paperwork, they are there to help you so use them.
A second avenue you have available to you in your appeal process is the Disabled American Veterans Association. I've provided a link for their website at the end of this article. Think of them as your legal voice during the appeal process. They will help you with the ins and outs of your appeal and talk to the VA directly if necessary.
Evaluate all the paperwork that was sent in your claim response letter. Look for errors or any information that you feel is missing from their decision letter.
-Next you will need to gather some information to add to your appeal to get Veterans Disability Compensation.
One of the best resources you have to your disposal during the appeal process is to add personal statements. These statements come from yourself, maybe a wife/husband and other family members. These personal statements are about adding a real person voice to your appeal and letting the review board know how your medical condition(s) has affected your quality of life.
Note- If filing a claim for Depression/PTSD, your personal statements should attest to your change in personality, mood and emotional stability.
I hope you follow my steps and you are successful in your appeal process to get Veterans Disability Compensation, but whatever you do, do not lie. It's considered fraud and the government does not take it lightly.
